This video makes me really very happy because everyone is there: Gaspard, Mehdi, Busy P, and, most importantly, Thomas who combines my two most favourite bangers (and by bangers I mean tracks that give me very primitive, very physical pleasure based on the vibration that goes into painful tingling in the inner of my ear, and it goes on teasingly, up and down, up and down which is very close to another type of tingling). Also, Mehdi's smile (!), Gaspard's tee (after all these years, I still want it), Pedro's vodka, Thomas' headphones, and his DP in between Genesis
Under the photo source link there is a complilation Naissance d'un prince dealing with very cool rap français. There's plenty of DJ Mehdi and his projects. So ccol that Ed Banger Records reminded of it on the first anniversary of Mehdi's death (September 2011.) I actually wonder why I've never really mentioned Mehdi on this blog up till now (and I haven't really dealt with Ed Banger that much either, maybe except for Justice, which is very weird because the EB family, they are my guilty pleasure, music boyfriend I've never had because I'm too sophisticated etc., well, my tiny music romance for years now)
David Guetta and Daft Punk are the biggest French dance music stars. Any preference?

M: As far as music is concerned, Daft Punk. They were pioneers who exported a sound that’s been embraced worldwide. But if you talk about international influence, I’d say Guetta. Any French success is good for the whole scene. And coming from a hip hop background, when I see all the big hip hop stars going to Guetta to produce tracks, I’m happy he’s in that position. They may not be tracks I’d bump in my car, but massive respect to him.

Mehdi, you played in the Mixmag tent at Creamfields and all the Mixmag staff commented on how good you smelled. How do you manage that at a festival?

M: Ha! It’s a secret. Perhaps that’s why Busy P asked me to mix the compilation with him.

And you’re always immaculately presented. Any ironing tips?

M: If you had breasts, longer hair and were slightly blonder, maybe I’d tell you. My ironing tips are copyrighted by Ed Banger! But I’m happy you noticed.

Finally, groupies must be a problem, throwing themselves at you like hungry vampires. How do you keep them at bay?

M: Mais non! Why keep them at bay? Embrace it!

DJ Mehdi/Xavier de Rosnay #djfaces
DJ Mehdi & Gesaffelstein. Probably the best people (except for de Rosnay who is my fav French fantasy) in Ed Banger (M. musically and G. visually)

There are nights when I'm on the verge of crying when I think about Mehdi's death. Then I dance
